WASHINGTON—The board of trustees of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace announced today the addition of four new members—Jon M. Huntsman Jr., Adebayo Ogunlesi, Kenneth E. Olivier, and L. Rafael Reif. These appointments expand the board to 27 members in keeping with the growth of the global think tank.

“We welcome these important additions,” said Richard Giordano, chairman of the board. “Each one brings vast knowledge and expertise in his respective field, which will significantly contribute to our efforts to enhance Carnegie’s work around the world.”

Jon Huntsman is chairman of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. He previously served as U.S. ambassador to China and Singapore. In 2004, he was elected governor of Utah. Prior to that, he was deputy U.S. trade representative under President George W. Bush. “I’m very proud that we’ve been able to attract members with such an incredible wealth of experience and talent to the board,” noted Carnegie President Jessica T. Mathews. “Jon’s deep knowledge of China and diplomacy, Adebayo’s track record in global business development, Rafael’s achievements in research and academic leadership, and Ken’s remarkable investment acumen will provide valuable and diverse support in our development of the first truly global think tank.”
